About Tested Outdoor Gear
Tested Outdoor Gear is a review-aggregation site. We read what owners write about their luggage — thousands of reviews per category — and turn it into complaint-rate tables, so you can see which failure shows up again and again instead of reading forty individual opinions.
The name needs one clarification, and we'd rather make it here than bury it: the "tested" in Tested Outdoor Gear refers to testing done by owners over months of real use. We do not test anything ourselves. We never touch the bags. There is no lab, no instrument, no drop test.
Casey Wren, Devon Marsh and Noor Haddad build and check the datasets. Every page states its sample size, the models it covers and the date window the reviews came from, because a complaint rate without a denominator is a decoration.

How this site pays for itself
Nothing on this site is sponsored, and there are currently no affiliate links — we pay for the hosting bill out of pocket. If that changes, the disclosure page changes first and every affected page carries a notice at the top.
What we will not do
- Accept payment for a placement, a ranking, or a kind word.
- Publish a guest post, a "sponsored review", or a link exchange.
- Take a free sample and review it as if we had bought it.
- Describe handling, carrying or testing a bag. We do not touch them.
- Present an aggregated owner-review score as a laboratory measurement.
